The Maggot Farm Incident

In 1983 Micklebring residents became aware of a horrible smell whenever they went outdoors. It soon transpired that the cause was a maggot farm, operating without planning permission on the other side of the motorway. The community came together in a big way, with action on many fronts. A petition went round the village and eventually a public enquiry put a stop to the maggot farm and the smell.
